Every year, St John school of first aid and safety (SOFAS) trains more than 14,000 people in disaster preparedness, para-medicine, firefighting and first aid. The training has helped tens of thousands of people get the skills they need to help friends, family members and even strangers.

St John continues to build on its reputation as a top provider of first aid and emergency medical skills by updating courses, providing instruction in new areas and using new technology to help the public be prepared for emergencies.

Our training meets the latest International guidelines, teach people in easy-to-follow steps, empowering them to prevent and manage life threatening emergencies.

Certificate in Natinal HIV Testing and Counselling

A comprehensive professional HIV and AIDS counseling and testing training which will equip you with quality skills to provide tests to individuals and groups across all ages.

Who should attend:
(i). Form 4 leavers (ii. KNEC certificate holders (iii). Health professionals (iv). Counselors (v) Others

Fees and Duration:
10 days theory
2 days observed practice
Total Fees:- KShs. 20,000

HIV Testing and Counselling Refresher also available:

Duration:- 3 days

Note: A non-refundable registration fee of KShs. 500 is applicable.

Emergency Medical Technician

Applications are invited from qualified persons to the new course of Emergency Medical Technicians (Full time/Part time). Course to be conducted at St John House Nairobi, St John Ambulance Coast Branch next to Tononoka Grounds, Mombasa and St John Ambulance Nakuru, at the Nakuru Show Ground. Disaster Preparedness and Response

This 5-day class will expose participants to a wide variety of real-life scenarios and situations that they might face during a disaster.


Occupational Health and Safety

This is the most advanced of St John  Ambulance course designed for the Workplace Health and Safety Committee. It is  prepared and presented by individuals who are widely acknowledged and respected  in their relevant fields of expertise. The training exposes the Committee in  all health and safety issues of the workplace including first aid, safety regulations,  and fire safety.


First Aid at Work

This is one of our most popular  First Aid training, specifically designed for people employed in injury prone  companies, and recommended by the Directorate of Occupational Health and  Safety. It covers Advanced First Aid as well as maintaining first aid equipment  and resources. This training leads to a certificate valid internationally.


First Aid Refresher

The First Aid Refresher course is  only suitable for people who already hold a current First Aid at Work, or  Lifesaver International First Aid certificate that is nearing expiry and who  need to re-train to obtain a valid certificate.
The course is designed to refresh  participants on up to date first aid skills, necessary to manage a patient that  is not breathing normally, is unconscious, bleeding or is ill or injured prior  to the arrival of the emergency services.


Lifesaver International First Aid

This course is designed to meet the  first aid needs members of the public who want to be able to manage most common  injuries and medical conditions prevalent in remote areas. This training leads  to a Certificate valid internationally for one year,  during which time a refresher course must be completed.


Lifesaver for Babies and Children

This course is designed to meet the  first aid needs of nunnies, parents, babysitters, teachers, carers in the child care  industry, kindergarten and members of the public who may be entrusted with the  care of babies and children.


Basic Fire Safety

Fire accidents lead to greater loss  of property and lives as well. Results arising from these situations can be  avoided by observing proper fire prevention techniques, and there is no other  way to do it well than to attend fire safety training.

This training is very practical in  nature and trainers use a combination of theory and practical to help the  learners appreciate Fire-fighting as an important skill.


Emergency First Aid

This is one of our shortest First  Aid courses and provides a good basic insight into First Aid procedures and  skills leading to a Certificate in  Emergency Aid, valid  internationally for one year. Innovative scenarios and practical exercises  help participants to learn how to manage emergency first aid situations. The  course content can be adapted to suit the needs of your organization.
